How can I become a member?
Membership to a local New Testament church is a biblical principle and practice. When writing to the Corinthian Church, the Apostle Paul said, "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular" (1Cor 12:27)
That local, Corinthian church, had a particular membership that made up that local body of Christ. A body cannot operate well, without all of its members being properly attached to it.
We believe every Christian who faithfully attends our church should be a member, as long as they meet the biblical requirements.
What are these requirements?
First, a person must have scriptural salvation. By this is meant that an individual has trusted in Christ, alone, for the forgiveness of sins, having understood his/her sinful condition before a Holy God. This person, by faith, is trusting in Christ's all-atoning work on Calvary's cross to eternally save him/her based on Christ's finished work on the cross.
Secondly, a person must have scriptural baptism. The proper method must be in place for membership in our church. A person must be baptized by full immersion in water (sprinkling, pouring, or infant baptism does not qualify).
Since baptism is one's public identification with Christ and His doctrine, a person who gets baptized is also identifying with the doctrine that a particular church teaches. If you are scripturally saved, are in agreement with our doctrine, and have been baptized at our church, then you can be a member at our church.
We do not accept baptisms from other churches, unless the church is another Independent Baptist Church like ours, that shares the same doctrinal beliefs. If this is the case, we require a letter of transfer from that person's church, where he/she was baptized. If a person was previously baptized in a different denomination, we would ask him/her to allow us to baptize them.
*We recognize that position is different from mainstream Christianity. We would ask you to earnestly pray about this before making any decision. We just want to be transparent about our beliefs. Baptists have sacrificed too much for us to simply accept baptisms from churches with whom we disagree.
Can I participate in your church’s communion/Lord’s Supper service?
Communion—also known as the Lord’s Supper—is only for our church members. If you are not a member of Morris Park Bible Baptist Church, you would have to participate at the church were you are a member. This is a sacred church ordinance to be observed by each individual church body. We are aware that some churches practice open communion or “close” communion. But we do not.
Are your services recorded/streamed online?
Yes. Sunday morning and Sunday evening services are recorded on YouTube’s platform. Here is a link to our YouTube page
